According to my résumé, this topic is my primary philosophical interest. When I am footnoted, it is usually because someone makes a blanket reference to the extended mind theory, and then cites several books without discussing the subject any further. About a third of the time, my book is in that list. This is probably what got me my teaching position at SSU. Here’s an abstract of the book, if you’re interested. it deals with none of the concrete examples you use, but still gets to the same conclusion.

I’ve also got several other papers on my academia.edu page in which I respond to critics, and apply these principles to other topics.

In my book, I say several times that the extended mind theory is an empirical question that can be settled only by doing research. i’ve come to believe, however, that it is something like a necessary truth. This paper argues for that revised version, and also gives you a sense of how convoluted this debate has become.
