According to this article, The problem Is not any use of the suffix "itis". It's using the suffix in isolation by referring to "the Itis". In that context, it apparently implies that the N-word is used in front of it. That was news to me, but seeing as I never used the phrase in the first place, it's no problem for me to continue not to use it.
