As always, you have written a compelling story about the impact of racism on your personal life. Thanks for educating me about a realm of experience I would never otherwise know about. I think however that your stories don’t support your claim that Tyler was right. Tyler is trying to expand the definition of what racism is, to help people see racism where they ordinarily wouldn’t see it. Your examples are morally appalling and unjust, but they all would have been recognized as such during the Mid-twentieth century, and some of them would have probably been seen as such even in the 19th century. Yes things are getting worse, as your stories eloquently illustrate. What we have is classic industrial strength racism that everyone would recognize and many of us hoped had disappeared. This is not like finding racism in Pool, or hair dryers, or crayons. I might grant the case about the last two, if you want to defend it, but Tyler is as wrong as he ever was.
