Bernie was never the high priest of Woke. He was a very reluctant convert, being basically an old school socialist who saw everything in terms of class struggle. He did learn to endorse the appropriate platitudes eventually, but I don’t think his heart was ever really in it. Same for Warren and Biden. Wokeness is basically a cult without a leader, and will probably always remain so. That’s because any attempt to question a marginalized person who is offended by something is condemned as “gaslighting“. Consequently, the “leadership“ torch gets passed around from person to person, and it becomes very difficult to do any critical thinking about goals and values. This is a shame, because I think this discussion raises very important issues about ethics and courtesy.
