Blacks are outnumbered in this country by a little less than ten to one. If there were an actual race war they would definitely lose. If there is no war, but only intermittent skirmishes, the guns won't be of much help either. That's because As you mention, if a Black person has a gun, "It may protect you but also be an excuse to kill you. " That's not just a possibility, there is real evidence for it. There is a statistic floating around conservative blogs that only a little more than a hundred black people have been killed by police. That statistic leaves out black people carrying guns who have been killed by police, who number in the thousands.

The Tulsa massacre exploded because there was a small group of black people who were armed to rescue a black man from being lynched. ( I learned that from one of your articles, so thanks for that.) If they had let that man be lynched, the massacre might never have taken place. God, that sucks. Maybe you'd rather die fighting than live in a world like that. But it seems to me that those are the only alternatives to peaceful political change. The Kennedy-Johnson civil rights bill had far more effect on the injustices of racism than any of the violent side effects of the BLM marches. As bad as things are now, they used to be a lot worse.
