Britain doesn't have colonies anymore, and Queen Elizabeth was an important force in abolishing British colonialism. She used her influence against people like Winston Churchill, who wanted to keep the British empire, and pressured them into turning the empire into the modern commonwealth. She didn't have any actual political power, but her belief that the empire was on its way out helped the British establishment eventually accept the inevitable.
