"Conversations were being held" is not the same as "universally acknowledge as true". Quite the opposite in fact. Good for you for being ahead of the times, although I think that was mostly because you were lucky enough to go to school where the issue was discussed. My point is just that I don't think someone should be fired because they weren't as lucky as you.
