During my lifetime, we have gone from "no means maybe" to "no means no" to "yes means yes" to "Yes means maybe". I think the last one is basically right if you want to be a decent guy. But if a guy doesn't have the ability to read these emotional nuances, that makes him a clueless klutz, but not a rapist. Men are trained to ignore their feelings since the time they are first told that boys don't cry, and that makes it very difficult to pick up those kinds of signals.
