It may very well be that this fellow is going through those stages as he reads your essays. After all, the only reason for saving somebody else’s articles is that you plan to re-read them. and if he continues to be read them, it must be because he wants to think about what you are saying. I know that I sometimes find some of your articles irritating, and others to be perceptive and profound, and I also find that I have a lot of trouble deciding definitely which is which. Perhaps his opinions will change as he rereads them.
