For US presidents, it's 13 out of 46. That's higher than I expected , but a lot less than "Almost all of them". I think this is a reflection of the fact that almost all US presidents are WASPs, and naming your child after yourself is mostly a WASP thing (Or a thing for people who want to emulate WASPS) Same with not talking about your feelings. Are WASPS more likely to be psychopaths? Maybe. They are more likely to have power of some sort in the US, so if they are psychopaths, perhaps they are more likely to cause damage.
My name mirrors my father's name. We are both Theodore, but he used "Ted" instead of "Teed." Theodore is my middle name, he had no middle name. His father was also Theodore, nicknamed Teed, so we have a kind of a dynasty thing going on. My father was the second child, as was I, so I'm the second son of a second son for two generations. Maybe that's why he gave his name to me, instead of to my older brother. But frankly I almost never think about this one way or the other. When I do think about this sort of thing, it makes me feel the opposite of entitled: aware of the fact that I was given a huge headstart, so if I screw up, I have no one to blame but myself.
Am I a Narcissist? I don't think so, but I do have a strong conviction that completing projects of my own is more important than doing what other people want me to do. Perhaps you have to see yourself as some sort of Golden Child to believe that your priorities are more important than anyone else's. But I don't think its possible to be an artist unless you believe that to some extent. I do want my art to have a positive effect on other people, but I'm the one who decides what that effect will be.
I think my wife of 40 years feels the same way, more or less. (She's far too independent to let me speak for her on something this important.) That's one of the reasons we decided not to have kids. We each give each other space to complete our respective projects, and sometimes collaborate. And we both have students, who are like surrogate children for us. But in my case, at least, my students are not as important to me as my creative projects.
