I can sort of understand why somebody would be offended if they heard "You are likely to behave a certain way because you are White. " or "White people in general behave a certain way." What seems just weird to me is that you weren't saying either of those things. You were saying "OTHER PEOPLE will not treat you a certain way because you are white." That's not even a statement about her, so I don't understand why she found it offensive.
