I definitely feel that they shouldn't withhold his film, or take away his Oscar. He apologized, and perhaps further apologies are called for. But we shouldn't erase the man's entire career for one stupid mistake. Where we disagree is that although I feel his action is forgivable, I don't think it is justifable, and certainly not praiseworthy. The Black writers I read on medium seem to be more or less split down the middle on this issue.
