I did read White Lotus when I was a teenager, but I don’t remember much about it. My older brother liked it a lot. From my very vague memories, it seemed to me to be belaboring the obvious a bit. However, as a piece of literature it does enable the white reader to experience racism at a deep emotional level. Perhaps I’ll take another look, at your recommendation.
