I don’t think she deserves very much blame for the atrocities of colonialism, or credit for ending it. It was the Prime Ministers, not her, who were the heads of the British empire. She was just a hood ornament. But I think it is cowardly and confused for someone to resign a position of power just so you can say your hands are clean. How would things had been better for anyone if she had resigned? She had some influence and no actual power, and as far as I know, what use she made of her influence was positive. That was the right thing to do, given the position she was born into.
