I never studied engineering, so I don't know exactly what you learned there. I do know that engineers learn logic as part of computer programming. What I am teaching in the linked essays is how to apply logic to ordinary spoken language. I taught that skill at the university level for 20 years. That's much more of an art than a science, but without it logic is merely an intellectual exercise.

I don't have many literary criticisms of Ayn Rand. I think she is a skilfull polemic novelist in the style of Dickens or Victor Hugo. She admits as much in The Romantic Manifesto. When it comes to logic, however, she is the classic definition of a fool: she knows not, and knows not that she knows not.
