I think this question is only asked of Women. I have never had anyone ask me if I was married. (except a few women who were probably hitting on me.) But nobody asks a man "when are you going to get married?", if they find out you are not. "Confirmed Bachelor" is not a pejorative label, unlike "Old Maid".
