I think Trump is suffering terribly. He is so unsure of himself that he constantly needs praise and validation. That’s why whenever any of his followers is not sufficiently loyal to him, he totally loses it. True compassion, however, does not mean wishing that he stop suffering. His real problem is that he hasn’t suffered enough.

He needs to have the scales fall from his eyes so he can experience in hideous detail what a loathesome piece of shit he is. I take it as an article of my personal faith that if he were to fully experience every nuance and detail of his spiritual deformity ( for a year or a millennium, whatever it takes), he would repent, and be worthy to sit at the right hand of God. I’m not actually a Christian, so I’m only using that as a very ambiguous metaphor. But I can imagine a possible future where I stand before God and see Trump sitting in his right hand, and am told “he is forgiven because he sincerely repented”. It would fuck with my head to hear that, but that is what orthodox Christian doctrine arguably implies.
