I’m sure it is nowhere near as bad, but there is a similar fear of heterosexual men in relation to young girls. When I applied for a job at a daycare center I was told both 1) They were really impressed with how well I related to the kids and 2) “I really feel men can’t do this sort of work”. To some degree, this prejudice manifests against all men, straight and gay. our society automatically assumes that the female touch is an act of love, and the male touch is an act of violence.

I’m not claiming victim status here. If there were an Oppression Olympics, white heterosexual men would always come in last, and rightly so. But I think it’s worth noting to understand the problem.
