Kennedy/Johnson were a symbiotic partnership who between them were one of our greatest presidents. But they were dealing with Republicans like Everett Dirksen and Jacob Javits, not lunatics and toadies like Trump and McCarthy. People who voted against bills because they disagreed with them, not solely because a Democrat might get credit for something. People who actually cared about the country, and would have voted to impeach Nixon if he hadn't resigned.
