Lakitha Tolbert has said it best here, I think. These kind of rules should be aimed at words and behavior that have actually bothered a substantial number of real Black people in the real world. They should not be derived from the logical inferences of a few people sitting at a desk somewhere (even if some of those people are Black). It’s a question of what terms have actually been historically used to cause Black people pain and put them down.
