Of course. Just as rape is far more serious than armed robbery. But the relationships between the two pairs is similar. Just as the relationship connecting your uncle to you is the same as the relationship connecting my uncle to me. That doesn't mean that your uncle and my uncle have anything in common at all.

It may be politically incorrect to say it, but if we are going to expand the meaning of rape in this way, we also have to recognize that some rapes really are more serious than others. The worst disease emerging from political correctness is this idea that all bad things are equally bad, and anyone who does one bad thing is bad all the way through.
