On the contrary, articles like this are written primarily for privileged people, to teach them about the experiences of marginalized people. I read a lot of this kind of article, because this is the only way I can get any sense of what it is like to be marginalized.
I know that these articles will never enable me to fully experience any sort of marginalization, but hopefully they will help decrease the frequency of my being unintentially offensive. I have concluded, however, that these articles contradict each other a lot, and so that goal will not be achieved by trying to abstract a unified moral code out of them.
Nevertheless, most of these articles appear to be formulating some sort of moral code. That phrase "No person can speak on behalf of an entire community" frequently appears as an attempt to invalidate anyone who disagrees with that code, even though the author is herself claiming to speak for an entire community . I felt the need to point out that inconsistency after having seen it so many times, but I still feel that this article, and others like it, are worth reading and writing. They just have to be treated as food for thought, and not as holy writ.
