Part of the problem with our times is that none of the commenters seem to be aware of the fact that there are students (and even some professors) on the left who are as dogmatic as this young man. They would use the same arguments to refuse to read Huckleberry Finn or To Kill a Mockingbird or Othello. And yet these commenters all see this student as corrupted by right wing ideology, even though essentially identical behavior is often produced by left wing ideology. This lack of self awareness is pretty depressing especially in people whose job it is to think and teach people to think. If a black student refused to read Othello because of its racist language, would these commenters side with the teacher or the student? I would side with the teacher in both cases, but these commenters do not even seem to be aware that this is a dilemma that needs to be addressed. It supposedly is just a failing of the nasty old conservatives. I argue in this essay that this is a problem on both sides of this tribal war masquerading as a debate. https://teedrockwell.medium.com/critical-race-theory-a-study-in-bipartisan-incoherency-df93216fbc8b
