"Pervert" is a much more problematic word. It seems to imply behavior that violates Criminal, Moral and Religious Law simultaneously, without any explanation as to how these three systems work together. Most of what we used to call perversion is now considered acceptable, and that which is still unacceptable is banned with equal effectiveness by the principle of consent. I think in these days of separation of Church and State, we have no use for a concept that muddies together the concepts of crime, moral transgression and religious sin.
