Recently Bill Cosby's wife Camille compared her husband to Emmett Till, implying he was convicted of being a serial rapist only because he was black. I think this was a dishonest misuse of history, because Cosby, unlike Till, really was a rapist, and like Weinstein, he was jailed because he was a rapist, not because he was black. I would call this "playing the Race Card". I think I understand why you see this phrase as a trivializing of racial injustice, which is certainly not a game. I also think that most of the time the concept of the race card is abused as an excuse to ignore real racism. Do you have any other phrase you would prefer for this kind of rhetorical dishonesty? I'd be willing to use it if there was one.
