Sometime during the birth of woke the idea appeared that no one should ever exaggerate or use metaphors. Eliminating a woman’s right to choose is bad. Slavery was bad. Sometimes in a fit of rhetorical enthusiasm, somebody might compare the two.

Amy Schumer didn’t actually compare slavery to forced birth. she just said that the people who wrote the constitution were slaveowners. That’s a pretty uncontroversial fact. Stating it says absolutely nothing about whether slavery is better or worse than forced birth. She also said nothing about asking Black people to demonstrate against forced birth. This is a classic example of the red herring fallacy: changing the subject to something vaguely related to the original argument, and then pretending you won the argument.
