Thanks for this information Howard. To some degree, I was just being silly, but I was also describing something I was experiencing. I’ve been watching the TV show “the good doctor“, and I’d noticed that there are only two white male doctors in it, and both of them are in some way marginalized. (One is autistic, the other is Jewish.) for one episode, they had a preppy WASP male doctor, who did all the microaggressions that you can see described in articles like those of Rebecca Stevens or GCorrella. Everybody hated him, so he wasn’t hired.

I was wondering how true to life that image was, so the next time I was at my local hospital, I checked the pictures at the front of each clinic, and about 80% of them were POC. So my general impression from this anecdotal information was that there weren’t that many white doctors anymore. Checking the link you sent me, it looks like this is really only limited to the San Francisco Bay area. The good doctor takes place in San Jose about an hour south of me. So thanks for setting me straight, and for the other useful information in that link. It was interesting to discover that the number of female doctors has been slowly increasing, so that now they are actually the majority nationally.
