That mistake has appeared in the news media a couple of times.

She is a teacher and some of her classes are made up of mostly Black students. She once said, “Wait a cotton-picking minute” to one of her students. She immediately came to me to discuss the racist implications and how it may impact the student.

That mistake has appeared in the news media a couple of times. For reasons I discuss below, I think this kind of action does show how someone can be a conduit for systemic racism, even if it is not an expression of racist beliefs by the speaker.
