the caste system was officially abolished in India at independence. It's been illegal in Inda ever since. Gandhi was one of the most influential people in making that happen. Among other things, he said "if we can't have Hinduism without the caste system, we should reject Hinduism." And he was a devout Hindu. Of course, caste prejudice was not abolished by this official declaration, anymore than racism was abolished by the American civil rights bill. I Can't see any meaningful sense in which the caste system is not racist and white supremacist. But don't blame Gandhi for this.
