The problem is that Black people are not a monolith. Even if the black people in the room are not offended, that doesn’t mean there won’t be hundreds or thousands of other Black people who are offended. There were lots of Black people in the room for the making of movies like Green Book, the Help, and Soul. and there were lots of Black people outside of the room that were offended by those movies.

this will always be a problem, and the solution, for what it’s worth, will always be incomplete. Get more and more and more Black people in more and more and more rooms. Then we eventually will come closer to having something for everyone, or more accurately something different for each of us. And white people will enjoy this variety every bit as much. Black Panther didn’t make $1 billion by selling tickets only to Black people.
