The thing that determines the borders of a field of study is the questions it asks, not the answers it gives. If you say that dinosaurs are reptiles you are doing paleontology. If you say dinosaurs are birds, you are also doing paleontology. Both of these claims are answering the same question, so they are part of the same field of study. Similarly, if you say that the natural order in the Universe was created by a “who” (a conscious being or agent) you are doing theology. If you say the natural order in the Universe was created by a “what” (a mindless mechanism) you are also doing theology. That’s because these two statements are both answers to the same question.
