There are lots of symbiotic relationships which are adversarial. Predator and prey for example. But in this case I think both sides should see themselves as allies, not enemies. I know that's not the usual perspective. That's partly why I felt it should be said.

I don't know how false the movie version is. That will of course make a lot of difference, and I don't know what I would count as acceptable leeway. I haven't see the movie yet, so I don't know what my personal verdict will be. But I definitely wouldn't condemn it unless I see it, so I wouldn't boycott it.
