This is a very well written and well researched article and I’m glad I got an opportunity to read it. I also think that generally speaking Jordan Peterson is a dimwit and a blowhard, and I’m always glad to see somebody giving him his comeuppance. But on this particular subject I think you are treating him unfairly. Judging from your quote, Peterson has directed his criticism at modern Muslims, not at Islam throughout history. His point could be made by saying that modern Muslims are not living up to the high ideal of tolerance strived for by medieval Islam, and by Muhammad himself. And if he is saying that, he is correct. Islam’s medieval treatment of Jews was often not up to modern standards of equity and justice. But it was far better than the way they were treated in so-called Christian nations, as your numerous examples vividly illustrate. Numerous modern Muslims fall below this standard when they conflate legitimate grievances against the Israeli government with belief in obvious forgeries and paranoid fantasies like the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
