This is the position that any theist takes if they claim belief in God must rest entirely on faith. Kierkegaard, among others, said we can’t know that God exists, but must believe in him anyway. My own position is that when there are a variety of positions, all of which are equally supported by the evidence, we have an epistemic right to choose amongst those equally supported positions. I believe atheism, theism, and agnosticism are all compatible with our level of ignorance on this topic, and therefore it is legitimate to choose between them. I discuss this further here.
