This kind of treatment will help change Nazis and white supremacists: the spittle hurling bigots who scream hate-filled slogans. But it won't be as easy to have it affect the kind of racism you usually write about: The microagressors who talk over black people, have no qualms about underpaying them or denying them promotions etc. People who do these sorts of things usually don't hate Black people. They are often just clueless about the impact of their actions. The distinction between impact and intent is important here. Give somebody Ecstasy will change their intentions, but it won't by itself change the impact of their actions.

Perhaps It could be a starting point for change if groups of white people and Black people took it together, and then discussed how their behavior affected each other. It might help white people understand why their well-intended actions were making Black people uncomfortable. And I do think that if black people can empathize with the intentions of clumsy well-meaning attempts at friendship, it might make the impact of those attempts less painful.
