Was he any relation to the Sessue Hayakawa who was involved in suppressing the student demonstrations at Berkeley in the 60s? my memory on this is hazy, but I think that was the name of the president/chancellor of Berkeley at the time? I thought he was also a professor of some sort, linguistics or semantics I think?
