We need more articles like this one. A lot of people say they value critical thinking and logic, and they just don't know what those terms mean. They also don't have the skills necessary to apply the concepts to real arguments. Your examples and explanations are really helpful for that.
I wrote this text during the 20 years I taught Critical Thinking and Logic at Sonoma State University. I put it up on Medium with the hope that it might raise the quality of the debates. Of course, as you pointed out, you can't reason with people who don't believe what they're saying, and aren't open to the possibility of changing their minds. But I still think there are some people out there who have the integrity to honestly debate. We shall see.
