when I read about Stede Bonnet in the book republic of pirates, I thought “this would make a terrific television comedy“. Unfortunately, this series isn’t it. It’s pretty good, if you like broad anachronistic farce, but the real Stede Bonnet was actually a lot funnier than the characters in this show.
