Yes, that's right, that's what the police are supposed to do, and a great deal of the time that's what they do. This is an absolutely essential function, and there is nothing in this article that shows how we can get along without it. The fact that there are other things that need to be done doesn't prove that we don't need the police. It just shows that the police aren't the answers to everything. So there is nothing in this article that justifies the claim that we should abolish the police. Unfortunately, this is true of every article I have ever read that claims to be giving reasons we should abolish the police. You can see a survey of some of those other articles here.
