You are the one who is blaming rape victims, not me. I’m saying that if someone has sex while severely intoxicated, they did NOT choose to have sex, and therefore should not be blamed for it. This is pretty widely agreed-upon these days. Severe intoxication takes away the ability to give consent. A lot of people have responded to Clapton’s rant by saying Words and actions done while intoxicated show what one really feels. If we applied this to intoxicated rape victims, we would have to say that the alcohol revealed that they really wanted to have sex. This is preposterous victim blaming, in both cases.
Guns, unlike alcohol, do not effect the ability to make decisions and choices. They just make those choices much more destructive to innocent bystanders.
