You can be excused for this in some countries, or at least you used to be able to. I think both France and Italy have had this on their books as a legitimate defense for murder. You actually have to catch your spouse in the act, not just hear about it. At least I have read this a few places. If anybody has contradictory evidence I’d like to see it.
